March 2014 update

Alan lost 14 friends in typhoon Yolanda/Hainan

Last week, we spent an unforgettable day on Pantalan Island in the Philippines. In typhoon Yolanda/Hainan, the small Baptist church lost 6 of its 18 members – all were married fathers in their 30’s. A number of the surviving widows and others gathered and shared their heart rending stories. One young mother told us that every time her daughter sees a boat arrive, she asks if her father is on it. We said very little but listened to them as they talked and wept. AMEN has donated two equipped fishing boats to two of the affected families. Thank you so much for your encouragement and kind support as we travel and seek to serve.
